Prevent A Litter Veterinary Hospital is the first low cost, non-profit, spay/neuter clinic to open in Virginia. Since 1999, we have performed over 97,000 surgeries for cats, dogs and even rabbits! This has significantly reduced the number of homeless animals entering shelters and roaming the streets. We also provide low cost vaccines on a walk in basis for any cat or dog that has been spayed or neutered. We take pride in the high quality of our work and are looking forward to our 100,000th surgery coming up in late 2016!

Thank you, Prevent A Litter, for providing excellent service and low prices. I brought a feral cat in this past weekend (June 7) for a neuter surgery. Your staff treated me and the cat with respect. (The cat was referred to as "sweet little one," which meant a lot to me because your team members had never met him.) You made the entire experience easy for me. The check-in was prompt; you gave me full, printed instructions on caring for the cat after surgery; and the check-out was easy. Because of your great prices, I did not ... read more
Years ago I took my pit to be spayed. They were very wonderful with me and her, at the time I didn't have the money and the did the procedure for free and later when I had the money I made a donation. They are wonderful♥♥

Dear Strider, I’m not exactly sure how to respond to your posts on Prevent A Litter’s Facebook page. You continue to compare us to Helping Hands despite the fact we are very different businesses offering very different services. Prevent A Litter is a non-profit while Helping Hands is for-profit – neither one being “bad” or “good” simply different. Also, we will likely see between 12,000 and 15,000 animals this year while I guesstimate Helping Hands will see around 3,000 (based on my very limited knowledge of their scheduling... read more

Very nice staff and treated my cats wonderfully when they were there today for their spay and vaccines. I needed directions this morning because I wasn't sure how to get there (Mapquest was not good at giving directions) and the staff was hugely helpful, talking to me on the phone while I tried to get there. Just super pleased with everything and happy my fur babies were in good hands today.
The lady that checked my and my Honey Girl out after her spay was wonderful! Very happy, energetic and showed my baby lots of love! Didn't catch her name but thanks so much! ;-)
