In 1891, the Oregon legislature created the Port of Portland to dredge a shipping channel from Portland to the Pacific Ocean. It now owns five marine terminals, four airports and seven business parks in the Northwest United States. I work at the Portland International Airport, and I have a Port of Portland badge. When the Port of Portland issued it, they gave me a lanyard with what appeared to be a heavy duty holder for the actual card. Just two months later, the plastic holder failed and the badge fell off unnoticed. The airline that employs me gladly replaced my badge without a penalty since it wasn't my fault. But not the Port. I was traveling from Portland to Spokane last week. An error going through security left me with an iPad belonging to someone else, and I didn't discover this until almost 1 hour later. I went back to the TSA, they were able to find video of me going through security and called officer Chauncey Curl. Officer Curl went above and beyond, tracking down my iPad and returning the iPad that I had to its rightful owner! I couldn't believe that he was able to do this, almost 2 hours after the mix up!
