Port of Call

4.5

About this business

This cozy little spot is the place to come when you just need a burger. Its small size is made even smaller by the influx of hungry folks looking for lunch. After 7p when the business crowds disperse the restaurant is not quite as crowded. Locals have announced the hamburgers to be the best in town. They are served with a baked potato if their large size is not enough to fill you. The attentive staff at Port of Call also serves pizzas, filet mignon, rib eye steak and New York strip.

After several nights of creole, this burger was good. No fries but the baked potato was good if not different. Ate at the bar. Bartender was a bit aloof and messed up by not ordering the salad that looked great. They brought the burgers with a house salad gratis. Really good burger. Good size. When the bill came the had takes our drinks off the bill for the mess up. Well done. Mess ups happen.

Burgers, Steaks and Pizza, in that order. Staffed by a typical rapid turnover staff of actors, writers, artists and musicians doing you the epic favor of walking as much as to 25ft to hand--deliver you the food you made them order for you.

I am not one to give a restaurant 1 stars because of the actions of a few. Overall, great food! Service can be improved. Got there around 11:15 which I know is the prime part of the day. Wait was about 30 min which was expected until I seen 2 parties that came after me (me being a party of 2) being seated before me. I asked the Hostess to make sure my name was still on the list because maybe I didn’t hear her call my name and her response was “Um, I didn’t erase your name off the list” with a sassy attitude.
