Ponchatoulas was founded in February 1996, by original owner Johnny Gaudet, who then partnered with Chris Garriga in 2004. With a passion for good food and fun, Gaudet opened the restaurant on the bustling Park Avenue in downtown Ruston. The building housed a fire station in the early 1900's, complete with the big red fire truck and even horse-drawn carriages lining the downtown streets. The atmosphere is so fun. Everyone is friendly. The food is to die for. It is like being home.

Went here after Presents 2016. Could only order from late night menu but judging from the plates of the people around us, we just missed the cut off. Shrimp po-boy was adequate. My real issue was with our waitress who seemed to care less about whether we were there or not. The crown drinks were stout so that's a plus. In the hour we were there they turned the music up three different times which made it a bit difficult to carry on a conversation near the end. Love it every thing is great the people an food an what ever you want
The food is awesome and authentic Cajun! I always go to Ponchatoula's when visiting my parents down south. The vibe in the restaurant was positive and the staff was super friendly.
Their po'boys are phenomenal, the service was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere was casual but conducive to good times and good conversation.
Great food...fried green tomatoes,catfish,red bean and rice and boudin Balls.
