About this business
The construction of Point Betsie Light began in 1854 and was completed in 1858 to look over the transport of ships on Lake Michigan. The lighthouse was extended to add a life saving station in 1875. The light was upgraded to the third order with bulls eye in 1880 after being originally equipped with a Fresnel Lens of the Fourth order. Standing at a height of 37 feet (11 meters), upgrades were made in the lens to reach higher distances and they currently use the VRB-25 optical system.
