Dr. Poelstra did my back surgery on 1 Dec 2016. He said that he could only get rid of 50% of the pain I was having from the severe spinal stenosis. I am happy to say that he got rid of 85% of the pain, maybe more! It's great to be able to get up, walk, and get things done around the house that I haven't been able to do for the last several years! Most important, I can now sit on my motorcycle and have a comfortable long ride. Thanks to you and your staff for everything! "Jake"
It is with great pleasure that I recommend Dr. Poelstra. I had been to five doctors and had three surgeries attempting to alleviate the pain associated with my spine. Dr. Poelstra was able to identify and articulate exactly what my problem was and not only what he would do to repair it, but how long it would take and what I could expect from the surgery. One of the prior surgeries I had turned out to be a full fusion of 4/5 and too k fourteen hours. As stated it took Dr. Poelstra two hours. Tks
My experience with Dr. Poelstra was very positive. Dr. Poelstra was very professional, technically competent and could explain the procedure I was to undergo in laymen's terms. His staff also exuded competence, compassion and approachability.
Dr. Poelstra performed spinal surgery on me on Feb 2, 2016. I first saw him in August 2015 barely able to walk because of back pain. After trying other pain relief measures without total success, we decided on surgery. I am walking totally without pain since April, 21/2 months after the surgery. Dr. Poelstra and staff, always explained everything to my satisfaction. They made sure my husband and I understood all their instructions; they never made us feel rushed.
Finally out of pain!! What a relief! Dr. Poelstra really cares for his patients and their well being. I will definitely recommend him and his team to others with spinal issues.
I never thought being normal could be something that would make me happy but after living with back pain for the last ten years I can't say enough about how great it is to be normal again. After years of living with back pain Dr. Poelstra found that I had fatty tissue growing in my spinal canal. The day after surgery I was walking pain free. The incision was small and I didn't need any pain meds, not even aspirin. I would highly recommend Dr. Poelstra to any one with spinal problems.
It really saddens me to give this review! However, Dr. Poelstra's office has clearly gone from providing quality care to only being interested in quantity of care! I'm so disappointed in how the service at the Destin office has deteriorated! You can't even get people to call you back! Then you get people like, Nicole Porter to finally answer the phone and then she speaks to you in a condescending tone! Thanks to your office I have been left in pain, in debt, and lost all trust in anyone from you
I have had the opportunity to be in Dr. Poelstra's presence on many occasions. From a standpoint not completely patient based, I have been able to see the love he has for his family, patients and employees. This gentleman truly loves to help people. He puts his entire heart into his work. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing health care. He is not only experienced beyond the normal expectations of his field, but he has an innate desire to help others.
I was referred to Dr. Poelstra by my physical therapist after being misdiagnosed for 2 years. Dr. Poelstra and his staff had me diagnosed and surgery complete within 2 months of seeing him. The staff is awesome and the whole procedure was easy. I am now 8 weeks post surgery and run 3 miles 4-5 days a week with general calisthenics.
