Bad attitudes and bad taste.
Keeping old people like me young! LOL! Great clothing options in all sizes. I see a lot of negative comments from people who bring clothing in to sell but I would have to say most of them are truly unfounded since they have great inventory. Obviously they ARE buying. Nothing smells bad or has stains so they are obviously discretionary. Good brands at good prices. As a shopper I'm glad they're picky when buying from people.
Very rarely take in style clothes and often are rude when explaining why they didn’t take certain things. I tried to go 3 days in a row, called they said they were accepting clothes showed up “oh no we’re not taking clothes for 30 mins” waited “oh it’ll be about another hour”. When I did finally get inside to sell, a few employees spoke with such a rude tone to myself and other customers. Will definitely not be back.
New ownership is absolutely awful. Most of the time when I go to sell, they tell me that they are not taking buys at the moment, and to come back in 30 minutes. When I come back in 30 minutes, they say the exact same thing. When I finally do get my items checked in, they tell me that I have lots of cute items, but to bring them back in a month or so, because they aren’t buying summer things yet. Apparently the bad reviews are all from people selling clothes and not buying, because I’ve found some good stuff here.
I came in today to sell some high quality clothes that were name brand, because I lost my job and I needed the money. After waiting for thirty minutes, I was told to go home and wash the clothes, because they smelled like smoke. I ask if do that will you accept? The cashier said probably so. I came home and washed and dried the clothes and brought them back. They were refused because, they were too dressy and were to mature. I made two trips, which I couldn't afford. Sorry to hear about your job loss Geri. When we start the "buy" process, if we detect smoke, we stop the buy immediately. With smoke smell on your items we did not go through each item when you brought them in the first time so we did not know the type of items you had. In the 450 Plato's Closet stores across the US and Canada the business model is to buy items that are popular among 13 - 24 year olds - brands such as American Eagle, Hollister, etc.. Brought something in to sell it here, which I literally had just bought from here a week before and it just didn't work out for me (it was an accessory so it couldn't be returned). I never used it in that week. They looked at it and said it was out of style, I explained that I had just bought it here, and was told that now it was my problem. Extremely rude staff. Not going back.
