This bar has been in existence for over 120 years now, so it is very apparent that it survived such minor irritations as Prohibition! For most of its lifetime, P.J.'s has served delicious sandwiches and burgers, along with delicious steaks make up the menu. The meals go great with the large selection of whiskeys and beers available here. The kitchen is open late, meaning you can come in and grab a bite to eat at this bar at nearly any hour.

Overrated and overpriced – The menu is ho hum, the food is mediocre at best, and most importantly the service was terrible. While we waited at the bar before sitting down the bartender focused all his attention on some regular Wall Street types (that fill the place) he seemed to know. I would strongly recommend passing on PJ Clarkes in favor of other establishments with better food, better prices and much better service and people. This place may have been good at one point, but it's staff and food was a big disappointment.
Great Sliders – P.J. Clarke's is always a good time. Its got the old school vibe - lots of wood paneling, checkered table cloths. We stop by here for drinks every now and then and its always a great scene. The bartender who has been there for years is so awesome and can take your order amidst the madness. Lots of people flock here after work. They have 2 flat screens above the bar that no one seems to watch and a jukebox in the back of the bar room. Sometimes we sit for dinner if the front of the house is too crazy and the d... read more
DMANBURGER "PJ Clarke's" – DMANBURGER “PJ Clarke’s” February 20, 2010 PJ Clarke’s has been an old favorite weekend spot for me for many years, I have many fond memories of Sundays tasting such home-made delights as Blue cheese wedges, Meatloaf and Reuben Sandwiches. Since 1884 PJ’s saloon as been doling out mugs of ale and jovial chatter to a patronage which can read as a who’s who from the history books, yet still keeping the feeling of an everyman’s bar. PJ’s has been affectionately loved by those who frequented her stools... read more
Great hamburger – The classic hamburger is unbelievable. The decor has an old-school feel to it which really enhances the whole dining experience. Definitely a must-dine for any burger lover!
What Happened To The Meatloaf? – Great Place! I've loved coming here for over 10 years. Saw it change hands, was nervous, then loved it even more after it re-opened (6-7 years ago). The Burgers have always been the best, hell I think this place is what restarted the Burger Movement we all think we are responsible for. Most places have copied their burger ie: JG, Napkin, Shake, Bobby...the list goes on. All these people came here, started with P.J.'s, then twisted it to make it theirs. You don't open a burger joint with out h... read more
The Joint is Legit! – Huge fan the moment I walked into this joint. Feels like its been there forever (which it has). The bartender knows everyone's name and greets you with a clap and a handshake. (2 claps if you are one of the regulars). You get the feeling as you are sitting at the bar (best place to be) that you are in the middle of an old time movie. Has actual Sinatra roots, with old time swing tunes in the backgroud. Also the best damn cheesebugers, fries, and shoe string onion rings you have had in your life. When yo... read more
disappointing – We went to PJ Clark?s a couple weeks ago and ordered burgers and French fries. The food was average and unevenly cooked: my burger was well-done on one side and medium rare on the other side. I?ve certainly had better burgers at less famous places. Also, the slices of tomatoes and onions were dry as if they were prepared the day before and were not even covered with plastic wrap, which I think is unacceptable. I also thought that most dishes on the menu were overpriced ($18 for Fish&Chips, etc). I?m not comin... read more
Used to be the best before this new chef took over. – I used to go there for both the food and the ambiance. I loved that the staff was friendly and the kitchen staff made it a point to come out and check on our table to make sure we were happy with our food. Then I go in one day, and the place was kinda quiet, and I couldn't put my finger on what the problem was. That's when I took a good look around and realized my favorite chef wasn't there, replaced by some dork in glasses. I asked my waitress where the other guy went an... read more
Great History, Good Ambiance! – I was lucky enough to participate in a Dewars sponsored "Speakeasy" tour of Manhattan last night, where PJ Clarks was the first stop on the list! The night kicked off with an intimate dinner function in the "speakeasy" style Sidecar and I was pleasantly surprised!! This is the OLDEST bar & restaurant in Manhattan which is pretty neat in itself! After getting a tad disoriented at the main restaurant, the kind hostess of the main bar directed us around to the side where you have to ring the bell... read more
