History Established in 2014. We opened our doors September 12, 2014 in a storefront that once was the local butcher shop in the 1880's. Meet the Business Owner JoEllen D. Business Owner After being in the coffee industry since 2002, working for Intelligentsia (Chicago) and Blue Bottle (Bay Area and NY), I was able to manifest Pinhole Coffee w/ a lot of help from my family and friends. The cafe owner was fun and knowledgeable. Totally psyched about the nitro coffee!
The best thing to happen to my neighborhood in years. They make a perfect espresso and carry beans from wonderful roasters on a rotating basis. They carry a small selection of delicious pastries. Plus it's just the prettiest room, with a great vibe. And the owner is a beautiful soul. She learns everyone's names and make us all feel so welcome. My dream of a great cafe.

I'm not going to sugar coat this, but will keep it PG. Pinhole is what BH was lacking so badly a decade ago when wife and I left Leese street. The staff is knowledgeable and relaxed without being snobby or hipsterish, the coffee selection is chosen with care and unique, and it's the only shop in SF where I welcome any and all conversation from the patrons & "locals", none of whom bite. Well worth a walk up the hill, and right next to Avedanos!
I love the vibe of Pinhole Coffee. ..I felt it even before it opened and I saw the signage ...I thought this seems like a cool place.. Pinhole is an appropriate name as it gives us a small view of the life of who pass this little anf enjoy the fine coffee and luscious pastries..Joellen is a so friendly and hardworking with a sense of community...a true people person

Pinhole coffee has freshly brewed coffee that is aromatic and robust, dark, warm, and earthy such that it's symphony of flavors combine to present coffee as it should be. Pinhole has a casual feel to it; it is perhaps more of a community than a business, a place where people enjoy the still life scene of fruit arranged beautifully on a table and where any place other than Pinhole seems far, far away.
