They support PBMs. PBMs make it harder for my patients to get the medication they need. I have never had a prior authorization I have pursued for a medication prescribed by myself or a colleague denied on appropriate (clinical) grounds. Appeals are always won, but what a waste of time. The P/As implemented by PBMs under the guise of cost-saving have only served to cost our clinic money in the form of time wasted, and harm our patients by delaying access to appropriate medications. This “middleman” is not needed between the consumer and drug manufacturers. IF they save consumers money, then where is the evidence?
