Not worth the price - or the attitude – I recently got a haircut at Peter Louis Salon. The staff is certainly skilled, and I was happy with my cut. I would not recommend this salon because of the attitude and the price. second time around not as great – I had my hair straighted in 2004 by a wonderful person no longer there so Peter worked on me this time. Unfortunately for me a regular client got more of his attention. Peter left me unattended several times to cater to his regular client. Having been thru the process, i knew you had to wait 48 hours before washing. when i did, the edges all around my face were still wavy, the hair underneath had a huge wave and at least an inch of hair was not straightened. i was extremely disappointed. i m... read more

User review by mfry – I had my hair straightened by Genenvia (sp?). She was wonderful. My hair is soft, shiney, and straight. It feels wonderful! I highly recommened this place the people are nice, and perform wonderful work.

Marvelous ! – I went to the Peter Louis Salon for a TR with my very damage hair due to a "vertical curl reducer" that I had done in a salon here in Maryland. But Maria did an amazing job (almost a miracle) with the TR and now my hair is not just straight but soft and shiny as well. I'm also thrilled with the products she recommend me, the Peter Louis Salon TR shampoo and conditioner. I recommend Maria she is the best and took great care of my fragile and damage hair during all the process. Thank you!!

Excellence Without Attitude! – I recently had the pleasure of going to the Peter Louis Salon for japanese straightening with Maria. I have been to all the top salons in the city, and unfortunately have had the straightening done by other "top" stylists as well..what a mistake! Had I known about this lovely, low pressure salon and the extraordinary skill of Maria I could have saved myself time and money. Best Haircut I've ever had! – I just went to the Peter Louis salon for the first time, and regret that I did not find it earlier. I had a haircut with Rosalba, and she truly is a miracle worker! I came in the most unusual predicament-let's just say that I had just gotten a "very bad haircut" somewhere else-and Rosalba knew exactly what to do. Not only did she fix the problem, but she gave me the best haircut I've ever had. This salon has skilled people and none of the pretentiousness.

I dont understand the hype – How strange....from reading all of the reviews, it seems like Peter is the only one who works at the salon. I have been there and dont get why all the reviews are so totally awesome about this place. I thought it was completly average. I didnt think it was that great, especially for the price. I feel as if I can go anywhere for the same service and come out with the same result. Not worth the money or the trip.

EXCELLENT! – I was in need of a haircut on a Sunday afternoon and Peter Louis was booked until 6pm. However, after he realized my desperation, he managed squeeze me in earlier and gave me a wonderful haircut! Unlike many hair salons i've been to in the city, he actually listened to what i had to say and made great suggestions. He took his time and made me feel like he really cared - that's hard to find in nyc. Excellent salon!
