I have a very extreme case as a result of my dental phobia for the last 15 years. This came back to haunt me, as I ended up with a brain abcess not so long ago as a result, which resulted in a craniotomy, paralysis (I recovered, thank God) and a horrific rehabilitation. It's hard to capture in a simple ratings system what makes an oral surgeon -- or any doctor for that matter -- one that you'd recommend. Especially with dental work, so much of what's important is how comfortable the surgeon and his staff can make you feel. Dr. Calat has been wonderful in this regard, as have the people in his office. Someone who's able to help answer your questions and calm your concerns helps put your mind at ease, and helps make the entire process what it should be. I'm grateful to have found him.

I recommend Dr.Calat very highly. I came in for a dental implant and he was very patient with my concerns and questions. I had the procedure done and was treated with care by Calat as well as his staff. After the procedure he called me the next day to see how I was doing. I had this done about 3 weeks ago and had relatively no pain. Dr.Calat also was very kind to go over with costs and recommend ways of payment. I had two wisdom tooth extractions done by Dr. Calat in the past 6 months. During the initial consultation he went over the panoramic xray with me, thoroughly explained everything, and patiently answered all my questions. His staff was also very courteous and comforting. The first extraction was done with local anesthesia and the second one with sedation. In both cases healing period was about 10 days, and relatively painless (I didn't even take painkillers). He gave me comfort, took his time to explain everything and different options, and assured me that everything would work out well. I went to see Dr. Calat for two dental implants, following my friends wonderful experience of having all four of her impacted wisdom teeth removed. After seeing two other oral surgeons, I was very nervous. But Dr. Calat's demeanor quickly put me at ease. He seemed to truly listen to each of my concerns and wanted what was best for me. Being in my late-twenty, I am a little bit concerned about my wisdom teeth extraction. I feel so lucky to find Dr. Calat to do this surgery for me. I get two of my impacted wisdom teeth removed (a bottom one and a top one on the same side), I didn't feel much pain during the surgery with only local anethesia, and I don't feel much pain after the sugery neither!
