terrible service but great vegan fare – The biscuits and almond gravy is this places' only saving grace. The wait staff was snappish and snobby to me and my friends. Yeah okay so we didn't look like hipsters or hippi's but that's no reason to be rude. This place has a nice vibe to it even though the wait for food did seem a big long. Don't however order their 4 grain pancake mine was doughy and gross. Its a coin toss on the food I suppose...good luck!
What's up with the service? – The other night my girlfriend and I were driving along Hawthorne looking for a bite and decided on Paradox Cafe. It had this funky decor mixed with cosmic, new age inspired artwork amongst a dinerlike atmosphere. We looked at the menu and realized that this place was definitely devoted to vegetarians. Nice list of dishes, but only a few meat choices for those looking for some protein. The Staff. heh...well, here's where the place loses ALL its charm. The waitress was painfully slow and devoid of... read more
I've always had good service and a good meal. – I was scrolling down through these reviews and it seems that the "service" at Paradox is questionable. I've been to the Paradox many times over the years (the first time I'd been there they had an alien/ufo theme going on) and have never felt out of place and have always received great food from a great staff with a good attitude. Maybe you get what you give? Or maybe I've just been lucky. The place has a local-diner-esque vibe and comes recommended for vegetarians, vegans, and... read more
king dave – being a vegan i enjoy the food at paradox a great deal... however the people who work there are all rude. its like you have to be accepted into their country club before they will even look you in the eye. i have been going there for over 3 years and i still get the same aditude.
I love this place! – My mom and I like to go out to breakfast when we get a chance, and this is one of our fave places to go. We're definitely not hipsters, just people that like good veggie food, and we have never had bad service. They don't do the fakey-perky thing like Denny's, but they are efficient and nice. The breakfast specials come with coffee and are super cheap and filling. We even went for Mother's day with my mom, myself, 2 teenage girls, and a young boy (hard crowd to please!) and it was very enjoyable (we sat ... read more
Vegetarian Tacos!!! – Know how you go in some restaurants and they think that since you're a vegetarian, you must want a wrap or something, anything with fried bell peppers? Not Paradox. Their vegetarian tacos are the almost-real deal, with "ground beef." (Almost) just like Mom used to make. Yum.
Good even if you're not vegan! – We love to have breakfast at Paradox. I don't consider myself vegan or vegetarian, but the food is absolutely delicious! Top notch! The wait staff is always kind and helpful, especially the young gentelman who works mornings!
My favorite restaurant – The food is cheap, tasty and the atmosphere is friendly. Great for me (not vegetarian) and my hubby (vegetarian).
Good eats - even if you are't Vegan/Veg – We frequent this little cafe- especially at the time where there's not a long line! We are definitely not a vegetarian or vegan, but we never walk away unsatisfied. The portions are gigantic considering what a "cheap eat" restaurant this is!
