Poor Service – I recently stayed at the Palace Hotel for a convention. When I tried to check in, I experienced extremely long lines at the front desk. There were some of staff members around, but no one seemed to be helping. My room was pretty shoddy for a "luxury" hotel and in serious need of an update. The bed was especially uncomfortable. I have stayed at Motel 6s with better service and nicer rooms.

Gorgeous & Comfortable – My husband and I try to stay in a new hotel each time we stay in SF (which is about once every other month since we left the city). This is the only hotel in this price range that we have been lured back to more than once. The building is absolutely beautiful, and decorated to make you feel as though you are there to be catered to. The rooms were cool, classic, and comfortable. Bad Experience – 1. They note down credit card information on note full information (credit card number and expiry date), they did it at least two occasions with me. 2. Front-desk associate watching intolerable contents on laptop, and avoiding basic services by not giving EVEN room key while check-in, customer has to ASK for the key, they are so busy in watching laptop. 3. Breathtakingly Beautiful! – Absolutely gorgeous! From the moment you walk in, it's hard to miss the breathtaking decor. Giant chandeliers, intricately designed furniture, tapestries galore. Even the bathrooms are beautiful. I can only imagine what the rooms look like. (and I can only imagine what the price must be like!) Iconic - In a class of its own – The Palace Hotel is a historic hotel going back to late 1800’s and was burnt down during the 1906 earthquake and rebuilt in 1909. The hotel is the oldest in San Francisco. Nice Hotel – The Palace is a nice place to stay. The rooms are on the small side. They have a great Jazz Brunch on the weekends.

The place is a palace, techcrunch40 event here was awesome – The multiple conference rooms and lobby that connects them all is brilliant and made for moving quickly from networking and watching sessions to one on ones and doing business...

Valet parking a nightmare – Upon departure it took Valet just under one hour to get my car from the garage across the street. Had to remind them 4 times that I was still waiting as I watched many others come and go. Otherwise a beautiful old hotel. Staff overall was extremely pleasant. Location was good. Parking was just a bummer and I am waiting to see if the hotel does anything about a complaint I filed over the parking problem. I would say you can probably do better for the money in SF..
