We ordered an array of things off of the lunch menu and they all came one or two at a time. It was perfect, it was an easy way to savor the wonderful flavors of each dish separately. As my daughter succinctly put it while eating her tres leches cake, "This is like music in my mouth!"

Food and drinks were excellent. Service was not great. The hostess had no idea where to seat me and took me to a table where someone else was already seated (!). And our waiter was very sporadic in service. He seemed distracted and would go 10-15 min without checking on us. I want to go again but they need to improve their service at those prices.

Business response:

Hi Stefan. Our general manager would like to learn more about your experience. Please email andress@oyamel.com to get in touch. We appreciate your feedback.

Oyamel has the best mole sauce in the DC area. The dessert and cocktail pairings are always perfect. I love this restaurant.

Business response:

Thank you Robin!

Kitchen and staff seemed overwhelmed on a Sunday at 1 pm. Were told we would have to wait for a dish for 1.25 hours if we wanted it, just as the dish was delivered to it table (yay!) but my dessert never showed up. Food and drinks were amazing though.

Don't misunderstand my review the food was good. Just dont like the small plate dinning experience too many choices to be made. Food comes out at different times so my main course came out a good 5 minutes after mine.

Best Mexican food I've ever had - and amazing margaritas! Everything was very authentic and fresh. Highly recommend the brussels sprouts, corn and enchilada.
