I went to Dr. Shaia for a hip replacement. He and his staff made me and my husband comfortable from the moment I walked in. I was given excellent information and tools to assist with this surgery. I am now 3 weeks out and doing so well. I highly recommend Dr. Shaia and his staff.
For those here who are upset with Dr. Shaia for his concern over your weight, please know that he only has your best interest in mind! His many years of experience in total joint replacement, has shown him which patients will have the best surgical outcome! This is NOT in anyway an insult, on the contrary, it’s for your benefit! There are other surgeons that will operate on anyone...wether they are good candidates, or not! These are the surgeons to stay away from!
Great. would absolutely recommend him to others! My husband will be planning a trip to see him for his knee if Va Ortho is in his Insurance plan.
I do recommend filling out the forms online that are emailed to you if you are having a procedure. It saves a lot of time when you get there. I was pleasantly surprised how smoothly the initial meeting went. Having never met Dr. Anthony Shaia I didn't know what to expect. Initially I wasn't sure either. He's pretty tough but I found him to be understanding of personal circumstances and by the time our first meeting was over I felt very comfortable with Dr. Shaia.
Dr. Anthony Shaia is an excellent and caring surgeon. I had a total knee replacement on 3/12/19 and am very pleased with the outcome. His entire staff is very competent and friendly. The pre-op class was very informative. We were given clear instructions after the surgery as how to best proceed to full recovery. Dr. Shaia answered all my questions and checked on me at home.It's been three weeks since my surgery. I am walking outside and am quite independent. I highly recommend Dr. Shaia. John

I think Dr Shaia and staff did a great job by talking and showing me what my problem was but if I had any other problems to come back and will take. a mother look.
