He never checked the preop xray he ordered to clear my mom for surgery. 5 years later when the ER doc asked mom why she had not yet addressed the lung tumors, plural, she said she didn't know. Had Dr Shaia checked the xrays he ordered, or even read the report that clearly stated there was a visible tumor, her lung cancer would have been addressed sooner before stage 4. Everyone makes mistakes, but arrogance blamed his nurse. Took no responsibility for it. The hospital did, but he never did.
Dr. Shaia exhibited genuine interest and care in my case. He clearly explained my condition in laymen's terms (without condescending); he discussed treatment options; and made it clear that he would not ever recommend surgery because that decision is important for the patient to make him- or herself. Nevertheless, I left my meeting with him well-armed with the information I need to make an informed decision. I highly recommend Dr. Shaia.

I have recommended Dr. Shaia to many people considering hip surgery. He and his team have a very well coordinated plan, from making appointments to scheduling surgery to attending a class and knowing what to expect. The day of the surgery went just as expected. Even the recovery went very well. Following all the "rules" for keeping safe and getting back to walking made it easy. I did not expect to feel so "normal" by two weeks and walking was a joy without pain.

Dr. Shaia is fantastic! He will give you 'back your life'!!~ From day 1 explained everything, took a 70+ into hip replace. surgery & I came out 98% less pain; 8:30 am into surgery & put on my feet 3:30pm-and HOME next morning. He was in and out checking on me (even 10:30 that night)-and I had lost my 'fear' of 'hospital infection' with all the pre-op procedures, ortho cleanliness and set-up. Strong follow up, no confusion in any of his instructions or staff (love his staff too) Now painfree
This Dr isnt capable of aeeing past your mri. My wife was in pain for months until she finally switched to another Dr. who actually listened to her and fixed her problem. Shaia made it seem like my wife was imaging her issue, ..how frustrating when you are in real pain.
