I will never spend another dime at the Orpheum nor will I ever darken its doors again. I am utterly ill at the decision to not show a classic movie because of the worry of offending someone. Well, take a look at every musical, play, book etc and I'm sure you can find something that will offend someone. The Orpheum is supposed to promote the arts not get mixed up in the political correctness that seems to be polluting our society. Good bye Orpheum I will miss you but my hard earned dollars will not ever be spent there again.
Political correctness gone mad! Idiots offended by GWTW should just NOT GO. I am offended by political correctness. Seriously get a grip! Stupid "snowflakes", welcome to the real world.
No need to return after you made such a poor decision about pulling a movie because a few people don't like it. Remember, there are a lot of people that still do.
Bowing to political correctness and not showing GONE WITH THE WIND for fear you may hurt someone's feelings. Snowflakes and HATE groups pretending to be victims need to GROW UP. This is AMERICA first! Shame on you Orpheum Theater!!!
I'm very disappointed that they removed GWTW. Very poor judgement.
Thanks i love the summer movies been going the last 5 years lets save the organ!
Orpheum I am disgusted with you choosing to not show Gone With The Wind. This is a classic which won 8 academy awards and has never been a problem until now. We have frequented the Orpheum frequently but never again. I hope you wake up and realize it's not the color of one's skin that should decide whether a movie/show be played. You lost our business and I will be happy to tell everyone of your decision and hope you lose their business too. God bless you.
When the going gets too tough you choose not to show it. What you could have done was taken the time to talk about the history that movie made. And the actress that broke a glass ceiling doing it. The first black actress to win an Oscar award, Ms. Hattie McDaniel, was in Gone With The Wind. She wasn't too offended to work on it and her doing so opened the door for the actresses that followed. If anything your decision to refuse to run it is an affront to her and her legacy. And I am disgusted by it. dennismichaellynch dot co... read more
I'm not a member but I do like to engage in the arts and venues at your theater. The hysteria of removing a classic because it has historical overtones is ridiculous and is nothing more than hyperbole and unadulterated ignorance. The incompetence of management is truly amazing. Perhaps censorship will have consequences. The best way to display our displeasure is withholding tickets sales and cut into profits. It's my hope that the Orpheum will lose valuable patronage as a freedom of our expression to school management on the... read more
