I'm offended that you pulled Gone With The Wind from your theater.
I am very disappointed to hear that Orpheum's senior management decided to remove Gone with The Wind from the summer movie series. It is a classic and been playing for over 30 years. We were there a few weeks ago and it was a packed house. What changed? Is this censorship? We support the Orpheum and are season ticket holders but will need to make a decision to continue to support. Will Color of Purple be removed this season?
This breaks my heart. I love this movie. That was not a movie about slavery. It was mostly a love story, and it painted a picture of how life was at that point in history. And it wasn't all pretty for anybody. I wonder how many of these idiots know about the events portrayed in this movie. Do they know how much the Hattie McDaniel character meant to Scarlett? She was more like her mother than her real mother. Are they aware that a black slave put his life on the line to protect Scarlett? Do they know that the men of the area... read more
I will continue to support the Orpheum. Great people work there....and they are a part of the Memphis cultural community that is vital to the city. You might not agree with this decision but for goodness sakes support this theater. it is an important asset to this area. Some of the comments I've read are over-the-top and completely racist. Chill out I'm sure you'll see the movie again sometime soon. As matter fact I'll bet some of the people that made those comments have never even seen it.

Your web page has these words: "Entertain. Educate. Enlighten". Perhaps that should be changed to: Censor, Ban. Erase.
