I had the pleasure of attending two very different events this weekend at the Orpheum, the summer movie series screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the Ostrander Theater Awards. Both events were well attended (Rocky was PACKED) and the Orpheum staff and volunteers made sure that everything went smoothly and an enjoyable night was had by all. I have held season tickets in the past and will again as finances permit. The Orpheum is a Memphis treasure if you have the opportunity to attend anything there...GO!
The Orpheum has been a place of many fond memories for me. Quality show after quality show has graced the stage and I've thoroughly appreciate every actor that has dedicated their time to entertaining us. I will continue to support the Orpheum for as long as I live in this town.
Removing Gone With the Wind. How could you. Shame, shame, shame.
I have always loved the Orpheum and all the work it consistently puts forward towards helping not only the theatre community but the city of Memphis as a whole. The staff is amazing, the productions it shows magnificent, and overall the Orpheum is one of the best things about this town. The Orpheum is love as much as it is Memphis. Great place to see shows. Stunning architecture!. The subscription seasons comprise touring productions of hit Broadway plays. The Orpheum also runs a much admired and well-attended movie series, in which one can see beloved classics on the big screen. Also fantastic venue for events (including catering needs, if desired) like weddings, parties, or meetings.
