Located in close proximity to restaurants like Ken & Sue's and East by Southwest, the Ore House is one of the oldest eateries in the city. Buying from local ranchers and farmers, this steakhouse serves some truly delicious cuts of meat, as well as many seafood preparations. The steak list comprises the chateaubriand for two, Prime rib-eye and bone-in NY strip, perfectly complemented by sides of sautéed mushrooms and crispy onions. Alaskan king crab, Maine lobster and wild Pacific shrimp are also cooked to perfection. ... read more

The service was GREAT, the prices were clearly for upscale tourists. Food presentation was artful and portions less than satisfying. Food quality was supurb. As a native of Colorado familiar with Vail, Aspen, Denver venues, I'll just leave readers to qualifiy if a 6 oz. Halibut fillet with 3 coconut rice balls (quarter size) on a scarce bed of arugula & a few chopped mango (1/8 c?) is worth $40? House chardonnay was $9/glass. Guessing the upscale tourists think this is a screaming deal. For me, it was clearly excessice.
Had an amazing dining experience, wonderful rib eye steaks, mushrooms are divine, delicious stuff potato and wedge salad large enough for two. Only regret? No room for dessert! Service was great even though we didn't have a reservation. A little pricey but worth every penny! Make The Ore House a part of your Colorado experience!
Business response:
Thank you Peggy!! Dessert is a must next time! 😉
Decor is Black Angus like but don't be fooled - the food is awesome (we had steaks as our main), the wine list is top notch (we are from NorCal and have a vineyard), will do again in a heartbeat when we are in town next - try the creamed corn as a side!
Business response:
Thanks Andrew! Your compliment on our wine list means a lot to us! We are major winos and have worked very hard on our wine list. 🙂 We look forward to your return visit!
We just ate there for the first time in years, and it is better than I remember. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Durango! As far as I can tell it was an improved menu, the inside looks updated with better lighting, and the food was fantastic! Best meal we've had all year. Good job Ryan!
Business response:
Pepper- Thank you so much for your feedback! We have worked very hard to revive the feel of the place and it's wonderful that you noticed! Thank you!
It was an incredible dinner all the way around. Ty was great as well as the support staff. We couldn't have been more pleased.
Great Steak, Mushrooms and Asparagus Downtown Durango
Very, very good restaurant. Sarah was our waitress and she did an amazing job! Very pricey, though, so save this restaurant for a special occasion. The best meal that I've ever had!

Thanks Kristen!!
We went on a Saturday night with no reservations. The wait was over an hour but the hostess learned it was my husbands birthday and worked to get us a nice table in 20 minutes! Thank you! Food was awesome, server was great. Pricy but worth it.
