I recently applied for an account with this bank and was denied. They took a $50 authorization hold and never released it. When I called to get help I got rushed off the phone. I regret applying!
There is a serious issue with One United Visa's payment processing. First, the bank eliminated the ability for cardholders to pay their bill online directly on a website. The bank recommends now payments through your banks bill paying service or by a customer mailing the payment directly to the bank. The main issue is payments are not processed on a timely basis, sometimes not at all causing consumers to be reported late to the credit bureaus. They have fees I have never even heard of. Customer service is not great either. I do not like how they move your transactions around to cause an overdraft. You have the option to turn it off but you still get the fee charged. I have had this account for a few months I was excited in the beginning but I quickly learned that this bank was not for me.
My card was closed WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE! There was NO negative balance, and no fraudulent activity. The card was just closed without my consent! This is extremely frustrating especially when I use these guys as my main bank!! This sh*t needs to be fixed ASAP!!!!
I switched all my accounts over to one united thinking I'd be better served and have found out that is not the case. They treat you worse that a national chain. They tout being a bank that serves the community and have no way for out of state customers to deposit funds in a timely fashion. Their mobile deposit will only take 1500 and if you deposit a check at an atm expect there to be a longer hold than a national chain. The WORST. It’s sad that they use being a black owned bank as a marketing tool and say they “help the community” but the way they do business prices the exact opposite. NEVER should it take 14-28 days to issue a refund and when I called and pressed the issue surevebiygh they released the funds. The policy that the bank has adapted for their overdraft fees is honestly not a good way to do business. As the largest black owned bank I would have thought that the policy would work better than the standard non black owned bank policies but I was sadly mistaken. I can understand giving an overdraft fee if the transaction was paid but to charge an account holder an uncollected funds fee because the draft attempted to come out seems unethical. Since transferring my savings to a One United account I have not been able to acces this account online. The debit card they sent never worked. I requested a new card and never received it. The banking hours are on pacific standard time and when I reach someone they are hardly able to help me and call times on hold are long. However, they are very active on social media even when the banking call hours are closed. I do not know how much money is still in my account or what the status is.
