??Oba! Restaurante y Refresqueria opened in Portland, Oregon in October 1997. Owner Steve McLain, who had spent the 1980s managing and owning restaurants in high-profile markets such as the Bay Area and Los Angeles, had already completed a successful purchase and turnaround of Hall Street Grill in a Portland suburb ??? a restaurant that continues to thrive under his ownership today. Eager to open a second venture in a more urban setting, McLain chose the heart of the Pearl District. At the time, this gritty, industrial area ... read more

yummmy food and drinks – LOVED the passion fruit mojito's... I can't wait to go back and have another. The food was also very good. Our server was great and not snuddy (which you can get sometimes in the pearl)
The food was soooo good. My GF & I ordered a grande order of tostones with beef carnitas. Its so flavorfull & the meat is tender & juicy. The meal pictured on their site, the vaca frita, was another dish we ordered. That was really good too. Unique flavor & the meat was also very tender. & the sweet potato crispys on top were great too. We also ordered the puerto rican shrimp fried rice which was also delicious. The food was so good that even though we were full half way through we couldnt stop eating =) And it was all glute... read more
New Years at Oba – I have been to Oba several times and love their latin inspired menu and drinks. This year my friends and I decided to ring in the new year at Oba and it was quite a disapointment. The drink menu was great but service from the kitchen was less than expected. My husband ordered a 5 corse selection and only received 3 of the corses. The atmosphere was extreemly loud and it was difficult to hear those at my own table. I would generally recomend Oba, but they have proven to be inconsistent.
Happy Hour Rocks! – awesome reasonable happy hour!
Great place – Love this place. Had a great time.
Great Latin Food – Oba features a fun, artsy, and trendy dining room. Don't expect to find any traditional cuban or caribbean dishes here but rather entrees that have been influenced by the islands and are sometimes reinventions of the original. Still, you're in for some culinary fun. We started with some creative cocktails and the very tasty arepas. We also tried the Cuban Pulled Flank Steak. It was good. The wine list is interesting and fairly priced. The service was excellent.
Atmosphere fantabulous – We have been frequent patrons for the past few years, and each and every time enjoy ourselves throughly. The service is good and the drinks are always better than I recall them being the time before.
Consistently Good Experience! – We frequent Oba and have always had a consistently good experience! Service staff is friendly and attentive. We like the Caesar Salad(the best in town), Coyotas and Burger. Their margaritas are tasty, too! Our only complaint would be the constant mariachi-type music... it's rather grating! They do have good take-out service.
Latino food rocks – All in all this place is worth eating at. I like going for happy hour which helps my savings account. If you are looking for consistency and latin food visit Oba.
