Come enjoy her beauty and dream of her rich past . . . Located on the Mississippi River between the historic Louisiana cities of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Oak Alley Plantation has been called the "Grande Dame of the Great River Road". Nowhere else in the south will you find such a spectacular setting! The quarter-mile canopy of giant live oak trees, believed to be nearly 300 years old, forms an impressive avenue leading to the classic Greek-revival style antebellum home. Awesome place, just love it!!! I'll be gone back in mid-May. I just can't wait.
Slavery was mentioned briefly but was on prominent display on the grounds. The lives of the slaves was beyond horrible and even after the EP their lives were brutal and controlled. Slavery has been around since time began. It struggled to an end in the 20th century in the USA. Prejudice gasps for life but is dying. The vast majority of good people dill continue to chick it out whenever snd wherever it reveals itself
Visited Oak Alley on the way back home from a conference. Donna was a superb and gracious tour guide and the scenery was breathtaking. I will have to come back again sometime with the family!
A very beautiful and peaceful place to take the family . The staff are very friendly and can answer any and all questions . Oak Alley Plantation is a place I can't wait to visit again .
Muss man unbedingt gesehen haben...wirklich wunderschön...
We have visited Oak Alley Plantation numerous times. Recently, we celebrated our daughter's 10th birthday here and stayed the night in a cottage. Oak Alley continues to pull us back. The history, the grounds (especially the live oaks), the charm, are just a few of the reasons why we will continue to visit. Thank y'all for making our daughter's birthday one that she will remember for the rest of her life.
Beautiful place. My friend Dalan took me there on my last day in New Orleans. Huge house and spectacular scenery. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Oak Alley was the first stop along our Plantation tour arranged with Old River Road Plantation Adventure. The tour was so informative and I enjoyed learning the history of the home and it owners. The lady that did our tour was so great with her delivery. She also did a great job at answering some of the more "off the wall" questions that others in the tour asked. The Mint Juleps were so tasty! I only wish I had more time to explore the resort. I was excited to learn that you can stay on the plantation in a Bed and Breakfast ... read more
The best way to describe walking these beautiful grounds is "a little bit of heaven on Earth"
