This place has always been on my bucket list and this trip to New Orleans I made sure I drove out to see it! It's absolutely gorgeous even in the rain! The tour guide was very informative on the Roman Family who ran the house. So glad I got to see this beautiful Plantation.
This place is magical, it's like stepping back in time. My boyfriend was not interested in going but by the end he was so happy that we got to experience this. It was lightly raining while we walked down the oak trees, the fact that we were being covered by 300 year old trees, the smell of the rain on the grass and the view around you is something to remember
Absolutely loved our visit there! Beautiful and I'm so thankful it's being preserved for generations after us to enjoy and learn from.
This was the highlight of our trip. The grounds are stunning. From the slave quarters to the Live Oak to the Mansion itself. With the Mississippi on one side and the fields on the other Oak Ally Plantation is perfection. Do the mansion tour with Thomas, he is such an amazing tour guide. The nature of his character provides that connection between what was and what is now. He is the piece required to provide that authentic feel. Amazing experience I cant wait to go back~~
Don't miss the Mint Julep for sale at the end of the tour. ThatMs. Selena and her spending habits tho... Tsk Tsk.
We stayed last night in cottage 5B, the room was amazing and after 5:30 when closing down for the day you can walk the ground so you are there alone, it was fantastic, we went over the road and sat by the Mississippi River for a while too, after the hustle of New Orleans this is what we needed, fantastic staff and beautiful setting
Loved it! Was one of my favourite plantations!
They let us go in after it was closed and got a great deal. Very pretty place.
As Southern Plantations go, this one was very beautiful aestetically. Lots of interesting background with it's Sugar History. I enjoyed the walk through (it's dark) History.
