Good dim sum experience – To celebrate the new year, I decided to try a new restaurant and haul my family with me. Traditionally we've always headed to Chinatown, but this year we spread our wings. We arrived early (9:30am) and were seated immediately. The dim sum carts were already rolling around the room and we were quickly offered item after item. Great Food and Value! – The dim sum and other culinary favorites that are featured at Ocean Star Restaurant are all delicious. But DO NOT go to Ocean Star and expect a beautiful ambience and quiet atmosphere. It's loud and the service isn't the best. Go there expecting great food at great prices.

Great dim sum selection – Ocean Star is a reliable Chinese food standby within the Asian community -- it's sort of a large-scale Denny's for Asians. There are dozens, probably hundreds, of dim sum restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley, but few have the wide selection as Ocean Star. Like most dim sum joints, the noise level is high, the service prompt but impersonal, and the wait will probably be at least an hour if you arrive after 11 a.m. on weekends. Great chinese food – Best DIM SUM in Southern California! The Food is also wonderful, but I normally go for the weekend dim sum. The only thing is that the wait can be about 1 hour (but that's very typical of any restaurant nowadays). I've also been here for a wedding and the food was awesome. The service is fast, but the staff are a bit rude. But again, definitely worth the visit!

Authentic Dim Sum – The dim sum at Ocean Star rivals that of dim sum dishes served in San Francisco's Chinatown. Because don't live close, I don't make it out to Monterey Park very often, but when I do it is a trip well worth the price!

Anyone Home?? – Saw this rating on Citysearch...suggested it as place to meet former boss while he was in town, since his favorites are Chinese food and seafood...what a disappointment!! Huge restaurant, only 5 tables at the MOST occupied the whole time I was there...virtually little to NO seafood available...huge menu...food mediocre at best. I will say you get a lot of food for your money...
