A restaurant still in the 1900's – The No Name restaurant is still stuck in the 1917 era and amazingly getting by today on these same old standards: bare bones no frills eating. It probably worked very well back in the 1900’s and the rating would have been 4 or 5 stars back then. Today, it’s 2009 and Boston tourist deserve better. The place: For the prices it charges, the restaurant needs to upgrade the facilities (or move) and get a little bit of class. Average food, plastic cups, unclean tables, a strange pitcher of water ... read more

Please don't waste your time or money – This place was recommended by a local, and I can't figure out why. What has changed since it used to be 'amazing'? It is now dull, bland, overpriced food. The 'fried scrod' was gross- VERY fishy, and just plain generic. The coleslaw was bland and boring. The tarter sauce was a very strange green color, and not appealing at all. We left hungry, and not feeling well. Money poorly spent, that is for sure. The waiter, while attentive in the beginning totally forgot us and never checked bac... read more

Surprised at the negative reviews – I have always loved the chowder, salmon and scallops at this place. I special order everything from wine to the combination plates. I hope the owner is still their and Emerald Lagasee is a big fan as he was there when I last visited. Perhaps the waitstaff needs a swift kick and the owner needs to read some of the prior reviews

You're Nuts. – Some friends and I went there for lunch and it was great. The staff was friendly, the food was perfectly done and there was plently of it. I didn't have any issues that some of these other posts have mentioned. In fact, just the opposite. This is not a fancy place - It's on Boston's fishing pier. I say it is a diamond in the rough.

Food ok, service horrible – We just had lunch on a rainy Saturday while waiting for our bus to the cape. We were directed to the upstairs dining room. There were about 6-8 waiters standing around but it was about 5 minutes before any of them decided to wait on us. One of us ordered the fried shrimp and one ordered the hamburger (not a seafood fan). Food was ready fairly quickly although after he brought the burger he took his time going back to get the shrimp as it sat on the counter near the kitchen. Once the food was serve... read more

total disaster – We used to go there a lot. However, last time we were there (a week ago), we found that it was no longer the place that we LOVED. The chowder we ordered has no taste. The lobster is no good either. Even the waiters became cold. The only thing that didn't change taste is the ketchup... We guess that the owner changed, so the chef and the waiters all changed. How we missed the old restaurant!

No name for a reason – The overall experience was... HORRIBLE. We sit down wait about 5-10 mins for our waitress.. what does she do? She throws the menus at the table and walks away (I'd like to point out that there were about 5-7 waiters sitting down or standing DOING NOTHING and the place was NOT busy), my husband gets up to go to the bathroom after we decide what we wanted and the waitress comes back and says.... "WHAT DO YOU WANT!?" I order ONE chowder soup, crab salad, seafood platter. We get 2 chowder soups, crab salad... read more

No Name...No Go – I normally don't write reviews, but this experience must be documented. In a city with so much great seafood, I don't know how this place stays in business. Food was bland, service was poor. The entire experience was dissappointing.

Easily the worst meal I've ever had – I had to give it a star or it woudln't post. Not deserving of 1/4 of a star. THis used to be THE PLACE to go. However...a recent visit will be the last. "seafood plate" - fried rubbery tiny tiny shrimp, scallops the size of a pencil eraser, 2 tiny pieces of scrod, 2 clams, 2 oysters. bland, chewey, horrid. Just the worst meal I"ve ever had in a restaurant and I've been around the world. the check out person grabbed the money, pushed the change to me and never even said thank you - too bu... read more
