Bright, fresh fish and an impeccably refined space set the bar for sushi in Seattle. – The Scene Since 1995, Tatsu Nishino and his chefs have kept standards high. Nishino himself often steps out of the kitchen to observe the bustling sushi bar, making sure counters are tidy and orderly. Servers know uni from tamago at a glance, as well as how to keep the courses coming at an appropriate pace. The Food Perfectly fresh, cool sashimi and sushi are the main draws. Standard-setting versions of the usual (salmon, tuna, shrimp) are... read more

Disappointing – We went to Nishino because of all the rave reviews, but unfortunately, the place did not live up to its rating. I actually feel bad I dragged my dining companion there. The oysters on the halfshell were not at all fresh and actually left a bad taste in my mouth. Some of our sashimi was great, some of it was, again, not fresh - especially the squid. The "market" price for the sashimi was outrageous for what we got. I thought the service was good and friendly and I liked the atmoshphere, but overall, I would no... read more

What else can you say – Nishino is fantastic. Not only is the temperature of the sushi served perfectly, their presentation is great too. My only beef is that I wish I could eat there more often! It ain't cheap, for sure, but for a special occasion, it's tough to beat, and if your date complains about te food...dump her...it wasn't meant to be.

Stunning, that's all I can say about the quality of appetizers, side dishes, and sashimi. after spending $300, we had almost one of each on the menu and I have nothing but praise for each item on the menu. The location, service, and quality of the food put it above the rest! Also, some local famous faces were there that night (Howard Shultz, etc.)

The Nobu of Seattle – Shockingly nice decor for a Japanese restaurant. Without question the best sushi I have eaten in Seattle and I have eaten at them all. I have also eaten at Nobu Miami, Nobu New York, Matsuhisa and Morimoto in Philly and this place holds it's own in regards to the food.

Hands down the best in town! – This is Seattle finest Japanese restaurant, without question. The sushi is incredibly fresh and selection is extensive. Nishino feels very authentic, but it also has a wonderful Northwest flavor. It blends the best of both worlds. The atmosphere is elegant, but casual and comfortable. It has a pleasant neighborhood feel and the patrons are friendly. Nishino is also a great place to impress a date (Gay or Straight). Sit at the Sushi Bar. Ask Kazu-san what's fresh and he and his staff will take v... read more

Good food but too pretentious – The sushi at Nishino's is really very good. Try the albacore tartare with ginger salsa. The service is attentive and knowledgable. There is, however, an air of pretentiousness about the place. I didn't appreciate being asked if I had a reservation when the same question was not asked of the "super model" couple ahead of me and the restaurant was barely half full. The prices were reasonable considering the excellent quality of fish. The restaurant had a nice ambience. Good for dates.

excellent sushi though not cheap – The food and service at Nishino are fantastic! Everyone in my party was impressed with the quality, freshness, flavor and presentation of the food ordered. Nishino comes up with some unique fusion combinations (a seasonal salad of fiddle head ferns, octopus, seaweed and lovely seasoning) and delivers excellent quality sushi standards. The clientelle is a bit pretentious and yuppy but given the rather pricey menu it's to be expected. The decor and atmosphere are nice save the awful large pai... read more

No Nishino – My friend and I decided to try the 25 for $25 deal here. The 2 entrees we tried were only mediocre - the mochiko chicken was like teriyaki chicken and the baked crab, although tasty, wasn't spectacular. The biggest disappointment was dessert - we tried the sorbet with red bean and the waiter told us it's a "taste" thing but we both thought it tasted like perfume with sugar in it. We ate the red bean topping but forced down bites of the sorbet, trying to like it but it really wasn't a flavor I could imagine likin... read more
