Get directionsI recently saw a poster showing a charity event auctioning a litter if pups for charity and was appalled! As a breeder and exhibitor of purebred dogs I take much time and care to place my pups in lifetime homes. This makes me wonder what you people were thinking. People may bid high just to give to the hospital without really wanting a dog and then this puppy ends up in rescue. Someone needs to rethink the auction. Auction stuffed animals at least that way if they are dumped no one starves or gets hurt. A life is a life and ... read more
Please reconsider auctioning the puppies....it is just plain WRONG !!!
Breeders carefully screen and select homes for their puppies, carefully matching the puppies personality to the lifestyle of the families they are to become a part of for the next 12-15 years. I am appalled that Newton Medical Center would consider auctioning off a litter of puppies to the highest bidder with no regard for the correct placement of the puppies - you promote yourself as a hospital that specializes in caring - your actions suggest you are caring about money not living beings.
Thank you for canceling the June 18 charity puppy auction and listening to our posts. If there is any question within your organization as to why these feelings were expressed, I (and others) would be happy to discuss breeder ethics and responsibilities as well as responsible dog ownership. I am sincerely very grateful for this decision. Thank you.
I am so glad to hear that the puppy auction has been cancelled. So much goes into breeding raising and caring for these precious little cargoes and the most important part is making sure they get into good, loving homes. It seems that Newton Medical Center is now more educated on how very important this is and has now reconsidered. Thank you....
I think any Medical Center that feels it is appropriate to auction off a litter of puppies to raise money does not have the necessary brain power to be responsible for anyone's health and well-being. It defies logical thought that anyone believes this is a good idea.
thank you so much for listening to everyone, breeders, pet owners and perforimance people who love their dogs with all their hearts. I am so glad the auction is cancelled. Sandy Ostrander
Shame on this Hospital! Ovisiously, they do not value LIFE if they are willing to auction off a litter of puppies as a fund raiser. So sad they value life as if it's a way to money.
I can't believe this that a medical center would do such a thing shame on you
