About this business

A recipient of the Preservation Merit Award (2006), Nau's Enfield Drug has existed since the early 30s. Pharmacist Lambert Labay purchased the store from founders Hylton and Eleanor Nau and has maintained the church pew booths and wooden bar stools. The most treasured relic here is the soda fountain that dispenses the ubiquitous home made malts and shakes. The burgers and sandwiches are also great value for money. Made from fresh ground beef and grilled just right, the buns are topped with melting cheese. It's easy to forget... read more

We’ve been looking for a good basic throwback diner here in Austin, and this place really reminded us of all the old mom & pop places in the SF east bay. No frills, basic burger and sandwich menu. But the patties were made by hand while we watched, the buns are toasted and the banana milkshakes are made with an old style shake machine and had a whole banana thrown in. Everything was about $1-$2 overpriced for a place like this- small cheeseburger with no fries - $6, small shake $5. But the quality was good, the place was cle... read more

Love this place, have never had anything but an incredible experience and am sorry for the few bitchy complainers.

It's ok, but not worth the price... $25+ for 2 burgers, 2 sodas, 2 chips. :-/ Though I may go back to try the Shakes and see if they are worth it. I always try to give a place a second chance. :-)

Quaint little neighborhood drug store with a soda fountain/lunch counter in the rear. Hamburgers are tiny and way over cooked. Onion rings appear to be from a freezer bag and not too tasty. Milkshake was good but portion was small. Served with a lot of it all over the outside of the glass and on the bottom...quite a mess. Maybe overfilled a just a bit. A little over $28.00 for two burgers, fries, rings and two shakes. Quaint but pricey.

Great staff and the milkshakes are killer. Wish more people patronized Nau's, and that they worked to restore the entire place. The potential is there - just looks neglected. Loved it tho!
