hit or miss, but mostly hit – Since Nami opened I've added it to my circuit of sushi restaurants that I frequent (I'm an addict!). Nami has a contemporary atmosphere that's a welcome breath of fresh air in the Twin Cities. The maki are mouthwatering, and the nigiri are fresh and moderate-sized ... pretty standard for the price you pay around the TC Metro. The service, however, though friendly, can be slow and rather inattentive, especially during peak times. It's a trade-off, but you can bet I'll be back!
Finally! – Minneapolis was needing a place like this. The atmosphere is fabulously decorated. I loved the sculpture in the entry. The sushi was great! They served very large portions and the cooked food was terrific as well. The tuna tataki was a treat! As far as the service goes, it is really hit or miss, a common situation with most new restaraunts. We did have a wonderful server who made many recommendations and offered us rolls that were not even on the menu. Very nice! The one critisim I have is that the wine list was l... read more
Comically bad service – Early on Friday, my group was nearly alone in the restaurant. Our server begged us to include her in our conversation, then told us about how she had cut her finger cutting vegetables and liked to talk to people, which she didn't get to do as much as when she worked at a coffee shop. She hovered oppressively over our table except for when she brought soup and forgot the spoon when she disappeared for 10 minutes. After she ran our credit card, she hovered again as we signed. We gave her a nice tip anyw... read more
sushi lover – We have tried many sushi restaurants in the Twin Cities, and although several have decent sushi, it was not outstanding and the nonsushi choices were often lacking greatly. Nami serves up excellent sushi with large portions at reasonable prices. In addition, the non-sushi choices were top-notch!!! We highly recommend trying the softshell crab appetizer. The sushi was cold (as it should be) and tasty. The tempura was crisp with a generous portion, and the teriyaki salmon was the best I've had (other than home-co... read more
Great Atmosphere – We could use more places in Mpls/St. Paul with this type of atmosphere! It is beautiful. The sushi is good (not great) but their crunchy roll is out of this world (the best in town). If you are looking for a fun place to start a night on the town, go here. Otherwise, if you are just looking for sushi, stick with Origami or Fuji-ya.
