Traveled from Hawaii to South Dakota and actually was more shocked with the how much it changed sense last time I been there; I remember Mt. Rushmore 20 years ago with no people around and very peaceful, compare to present; my husband and our kid got to see it for the first time with ongoing constraction, crowded and consumed by commercialization. It was a quick trip, parking and walking through the actual monument didn't took too long. Even if all you are going to do is take pictures, it will cost you $10 to park. We still ... read more

We went there on 9-24-2019 and over half of the place was closed. They want you to pay for some thing you can see on the road. This is going to happen till 2021. SO DONT PAY FOR SOME THING YOU CAN SEE ON THE ROAD!!!

Parking tickets are good for one year so go check it out multiple times to see it at night and day. Pretty good food there also.

Mt.Rushmore and South Dakota was beautiful and well the trip. It was a bucket list item that has been checked Off the list. We sorry to see all the construction but might be a reason to come back. Only bad thing that We noticed was the made in China items in the gift shop. Such a shame that our National treasure couldn’t Be all American made.
