Monti's La Casa Vieja I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. Their steaks are good. The building is old and there is alot of history on the walls. Its a good place for having big events as well.
Really, Really Bad Food was terrible! Prime Rib was rubbery and dry. It had the consistency of shoe leather. Potato was overcooked and burnt. Saw a huge cockroach hanging in the dining room!! Heard they are in the kitchen, too!!.... Service was poor. The Waiter and then Manager were both rude. Poor Bruce Springsteen, cant believe he ate at this dump! Hopefully it was better when John Wayne ate here! Can't believe Michael Monti is running for Mayor! Maybe he should clean up his restaurant, first! What a travesty!
Monti's La Casa Vieja is great! What a great place. The steaks are great. The is tons of history on the walls. The atmosphere is very laid back. The employees are friendly. I would absolutely recommend Monti's!
Monti's - not a Mexican Restaurant Monti's has been around for as long as I can remember. They claim to have a "southwestern flair," but you don't go into this place looking for a burrito. This is American cuisine that is in between a Black Angus and Ruth Chris' Steakhouse. You can get a good steak for a decent price, or pasta, chicken, sandwiches, etc. Their Roman Bread is really good. They had the recipe published in the Arizona Republic about 13 years ago and I've been making it ever since.
Historic location The location, right next to the Mill Avenue Bridge, is an historic adobe home. The walls display photographs of the famous Arizonans who have dined there. The selection is somewhat limited (mostly steaks) and the dishes mediocre -- as is the service. They're much too impressed with their historic reputation and need to concentrate more on their food and service.
