This natural habitat for rescued grizzly bears is one of the best places in Montana to watch these regal creatures. Open to the public since 2004, Montana Grizzly Encounter invites you to watch, learn and interact with the grizzlies in a safe environment. Watch as Brutus, Sheena and Bella, the resident bears, bask in the early morning sun, and later visit the gift shop to buy a few souvenirs to remember these grizzlies by.

This is a hidden gem of an exhibit and exceptionally educational. "Jake" and Maggie" were fun to watch also, but the knowledge imparted by Billy, the resident educator, was exceptional. ANyone going anywhere near brown bear country must go here!!! I could have watched Bella all day! What a character. And Brutus was magnificent.
Stopped by half an hour before closing, thought we weren't going to be able to see the bears, but we're warmly invited to come in. The people that run this place, are truly wonderful, and care so much for these beautiful animals, can't wait to return, and visit again. It was a beautiful experience, we all loved it, and we all fell absolutely in love with Sheena!!! I do believe she is my spirit animal. So thankful for the experience we were able to have. Thank you for what you do!!!

My husband and I visited a few days ago and really enjoyed the information, staff and of course the bears. We came in to morning to see Jake and Maggi, left and came back to see Brutus and Bella. Though most of the nay sayers complain about the size of the place after hearing their stories they are in a way better environment now than they were. Completely worth checking out!

I've always wanted to go see this place and finally had the chance and I was pretty disappointed on the size of this place. Only enough room for 2 bears at a time to be out :( location not so good. Thought sense Casey Anderson is or was part of this sanctuary it would be bigger so the bears could be out more.

I'd love to help you understand bears a little better. Wild bears can roam up to a 500 square mile home range, but that is only because it takes that much area to find enough food (and mates). Our bears are fed a very healthy diet and do not require that much area to search for food. Being a rescue, we also do not allow them to breed. Our habitat is plenty large enou... read more
Since we discovered Montana Grizzly Encounter, me and my wife have been coming back several times a week. They are passionate about their bears and educating everyone on safety and conservation. I encourage everyone to pay them a visit. 85% of entry goes to providing for the bears as 100% of gift shop purchases go to the bears. Love going and watching the bears play or be lazy.
