Mitchell’s Ice Cream opened for business on June 6, 1953. Larry and Jack Mitchell’s goal was to make the very best ice cream in San Francisco. The Mitchells started out with nineteen flavors; all made with 16% butterfat cream and superior ingredients. They continued to add flavors as their store became more popular and in the early 1960’s they were the first to introduce Mango ice cream to the Bay Area. Best ice cream in the city hands down! My Uncle took us here as youngins now I take my children here and they love it just like me.
First visit last night before heading out to catch flight home. Wait time not too bad. Big selection of flavors to choose from . Had chocolate and it was awesome ! Would go back to try another flavor .

Ice cream at its best. Smooth and creamy, there's no skimping on butterfat. The variety of flavors is impressive. Avocado anyone. I was conservative in my choices - a scoop of peach and a scoop of dulce de leche. Brilliant choices IMHO. Even at 2 pm there was a line, but it was wirth it.
I made my hubby drive the RV in the city so I can bring back 4 tubs of my mom fav Mango and Ube back to San Diego. To bad they don't ship lol
We live and work in San Francisco, Mitchell's Ice Cream has been our favorite neighborhood Ice Cream Store since the 70's. I rate it the best in the City. When relatives stay with us here to visit, the first question is, how can I bring this back to Orange County. I say "I don't know". Mitchell's Ice Cream Rocks!
