I came in almost unable to walk from pain. Dr. Birmingham did xrays and examined me and said I needed total hip replacements on both sides. I did the first at the end of May and the 2nd in September. Throughout the process he was there to answer any questions and help navigate the process. I am currently healing nicely and have my life back. I am so thankful I met with him. Very positive experience. Lived up to the reviews that I had read. My first experience with Ortho Va. Short wait at front, but not a problem. Excellent staff and well organized. Got Xrays of my knees and then after talking with Dr. got shots in each knee. I will need knee replacements in future. Again I am glad that I read the reviews and selected Dr. Birmingham. Birmingham 4th or so opinion /doc been to. Found him on Healthgrades, via ratings & (current) comments. Ratings & comments rang true. I was not disappointed. Felt most confident with him compared to other docs. So the positive remarks you read from others are true. Personable, relatable, realistic, insightful. He was very engaged in my case. Outstanding doctor. Cares about his patients. Spends time with you. Talks with you. Explains everything. Great surgical results. I have been privileged to have had several really good doctors over the years, but Dr. Birmingham is at the top. I highly recommend you go see him. He's the doctor you've been hoping for. Just superbly qualified and totally focused on getting you well.
Dr. Birmingham is an excellent doctor, surgeon, and person. In 2018 I had to have 2 stage hip revision surgery and after the experience with my first hip surgery I was terrified. Dr. Birmingham immediately sensed my fear and not only performed two very complex surgeries on my hip but provided me with the emotional support and encouragement that I needed. Knee replacement surgery for a 77 year old woman is a special journey. All went so well because Dr. B is excellent, confident, and seasoned. I chose well and may do other knee eventually. So happy he was recommended by my neighbor.
Another home run! Ortho VA physicians are sensitive and empathetic to your situation, and you leave feeling that they listened and heard everything you tell them. My previous experience at OVA was an A+
