In 1915, Mario DeBenedetti began baking Italian breads in Lockport, Ill., using family recipes he brought to America from his homeland. He called his bakery Milano, after the Italian city he remembered from his youth. Demand for his fresh-baked breads grew quickly, and in 1926, the Milano Bakery moved into a new building. I ordered a full sheet marble cake with buttercream frosting and had a picture of my Dad and his travel trailer put on it along with balloons for his birthday. The staff was very helpful when I placed the order. The cake turned out beautiful and I have received nothing but compliments on how good it was. Thank you Milano's for doing an excellent job in adding to my Dad's special day!
