Located in Miami's Design District, Michael's Genuine Food & Drink is an enjoyable bistro offering an assortment of small, medium and large plates, as well as specialties from their wood-fired oven, making use of local, organic ingredients. The warm and friendly atmosphere has made this restaurant a favorite among Miami natives and tourists alike. Although leaning more towards the expensive side, items on the dinner menu are worth every penny. Try the fantastic lunch menu if you want to experience this restaurant without bre... read more

Overpriced. Overrated. – Let me just start with the fact that the food is not bad. However, good food does not make a great restaurant. I can make good food at home, but I come out for service/food. Indifferent waitstaff, pretentious front of the house and open tables as they announce that there are no seats are insulting. I reported our experience to American Express Concierge since they made the reservation for us. It seems that Michael's serves large family style groups better than a couple of two. If there are two of you... read more
MIchael's Genuine has gone way downhill – As someone who has been at the restaurant many times, I am sad to report it has really gone downhill and I will not return. First, we were there to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary which was mentioned to the reservation staff. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the new host who cannot over himself and his worthless South Beach attitude. He wanted us to sit outside in the 90 plus degree weather with high humidity and I refused. He rudely indicated I did not request inside and pointe... read more
Don't go if two people in your party... – The only tables for two people that Michael's has in their main dining room are literally ON TOP of the couple next to you. I don't think there is more than an inch in between them. So, pretty much every couple I know that goes has the same complaint ("There is no intimacy. I felt like we were dining for four") and doesn't want to return. If they get this corrected, it will make a world of difference.
One of the worst dining experiences ever... – I was really looking forward to coming here, i have heard so many great things about the food. The food may actually be fantastic, but after the horrible evening I had there, it wouldn't even matter. After waiting 1 hour for our entrees, we finally had to ask the manager what was going on because our waiter disappeared. She promised our food would be out in "6 minutes". Another 20 passed with no explanation, we canceled the order, she promised dessert but that never came. After 2... read more
REALLY BAD SERVICE, DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HOSPITALITY-ARROGANT – As a gourmet couple (regulars and WELCOME at Masa, Craft, L'atelier Robuchon,Per Se, French Laundry,Fat Duck Tetsuya, Il Bulli Le Cinq,Guy Savoy, etc) that just moved from NY, we used to enjoy very much the food at Michael's since is one of the restaurants in Miami comparable to the ones in NYC. However, last night our experience there was AWFUL and it shows how they DO NOT CARE about service or loyal clients there(we go there usually every friday ordering ... read more
Great lunch place – Best lunch in town for business or casual. Affordable menu with lovely atmosphere. you cannot decide what to get, so share little plates and try it all. Definitely get a dessert especially the chocolate with rock salt, yes rock salt...too die for !!
Locals flock for the fresh and simple contemporary American cuisine at this restaurant headed by chef and owner Michael Schwartz. – In Short Can you bring a farmers' market approach to a bistro setting? Fans of Michael's nod in agreement, as they chow down on locally-grown comfort food. The weekday lunch crowd consists of Design District locals, giving way to a broader audience as the dinner menu kicks in. Choices are grouped by size, from small (crabcake with carrot ginger) to extra large (snapper with roasted fennel). The ... read more
Some of the rudest service I have ever experienced – When Michael's first opened up, I very much enjoyed going as it was one of the first decent restaurants in the neighborhood. As the restaurant became more popular (mainly because of it's status as one of the few close-by, decent restaurants), the service deteriorated to such a below par level, that myself and everyone in my circle of friends and co-workers will not step foot into the restaurant anymore. This includes restaurant crictics for some of the major magazines and ... read more
Don't bring a date – My fiancee and I dined at Michael's upon the recommendation of many others who have dined there as part of a group (4 or more). It is not the same experience if you go there on a date. On our night, which was very busy, couples were seated right next to each other at tables that should be combined to sit a group of 4. From what we could tell, there's about a 50 percent chance that, if you go here as a party of 2, you'll be seated very, very, very close to another party of 2. Perhaps I could understand if... read more
