I felt as if this provider did not want to spend the time with me to find out what was wrong. This was my second visit to see him. Each time, he sent a new grad in to speak with me and "assess" me who then reported his perceptions to Dr. Chang before the doctor would see me. I do not like this procedure. I am fully capable of adequately conveying and discussing whatever medical concern(s) I have that I have sought Dr. Chang's advice for.
My experience with Dr. Chang was very positive. He was attentive and empathetic to my concerns. He was my 3rd "consult or opinion" and I opted for him after consulting with 2 other neuro/ortho docs. He took time to explain the surgery in detail and put my nerves at ease. My surgery time and hospital stay was even shorter than expected!
Dr. Chang performed a 7 level fusion of my spine in 2016. As soon as I woke up he asked if I could move my right leg >odd. .. As time passed I had several falls. Chang said he could "guarantee" there was no nerve damage. My PT suggested I get an EMG which showed severe nerve damage in & around the L4 nerve -- use of right leg. Had an MRI w/ another surgeon& there was a screw laying on the L4 nerve. Took it to Chang who asked why didn't I want to use a cane or walker.... I had surgery b/c of back pain but I could still functi... read more
I had an excellent consultation with Dr. Chang. He explained all options to me. Then listened to my concerns and answered my questions. He had no ego. I felt very comfortable with him and will be getting my surgery done by him later this year.
Has a HUGE ego & won't admit error. He "guaranteed" there was no nerve damage but an EMG showed serious nerve damage that affected my ability to walk. My right leg was mostly numb & weak and some of the muscles 4 walking were atrophied due 2 nerve damage so I fell regularly. An MRI showed a screw smashing L4 nerve. I had another surgery (by a different surgeon) to correct screw placement. Although I'm better there is still nerve damage & I still fall, twice breaking multiple ribs. Beware...
You will never see this review because they have no integrity. I wrote a review and it was never posted. I would never let this guy give my dog a bath. Jeff Fleming 520.424.3747.
Chang (doesn't deserve title of Dr) was not my surgeon, was covering for Dr Datta over weekend. Came into my room and told me I can go home. Never looked at my incision, never asked how I was feeling. No post d/c meds and gave instructions to follow up in office in 2-3 months. This after a 4 level laminectomy. If you are looking for substandard treatment this is it
