His explanation was excellent. I was slightly in shock because I was not expecting my neck to be as bad as it is. I don't remember everything he told me. He was very caring and the staff was wonderful. Despite the Corvid 19 procedures in place, everything went smoothly.
I have complete confidence in Dr. Russell as a surgeon. He had previously done spinal fusion surgery on myself and my wife. I had no qualms scheduling the back surgery on L4/5 on January 8, 2020. The results have been amazing! He has completely changed my life from the pain I was suffering from spondylitis. I highly recommend Dr. Michael Russell to anyone experiencing back problems.

I think the review above from “he killed me” and “almost operated on wrong portion of back” has got to be someone confused about their surgeon Dr Russell operated on my mom to correct problems from two prior surgeries on her back! He has done an amazing job operating on her and even relieved a pinched spinal cord enabling her to walk again She was released today and good to go one year post op She has been very pleased with Dr Russell and his staff and the Texas Spine and Joint Hospital
4 members of my family have had surgery by him and all 4 had to go elsewhere to correct the pain his surgery left us in - nice man if that matters
Dr Russell not only killed me during surgery, he almost operated in the wrong place on my spine. He never completed the surgery and my life has been a living hell for the past 2 years because of the damage to my spinal cord. After messing up on the table, he just gave up and refused to see me again. I walk with a bad limp and a cane now because the right side of my body does not work right. Do yourself a favor and be VERY CAREFUL about who you let operate on your spine. I would not recommend him

Dr. Russell & assistant surgeon, Forrest Persing, was my God send in 2013. A spur was removed from T1, disc C4-C5, C5-C6, C6-C7 was removed & replaced with cadaver bone. He is truly the Best Spine Specialist.
