It was awful. I was severely depressed. He sent me to Novant thinking I would get the help I needed. After telling Dr Christo I I would not go to Salasberry that is exactly where I ended up. They did absolutely nothing for me. Got two visits with the Doctor in six days. I wanted to walk up and down the hall but had to give this because there was another patient who walked up and down the hall screaming at the top of his lungs and was strong so I elected not to exercise. Dr. Michael Christo saved my life. I was virtually unable to speak from a nearly catatonic state of depression. He provided a series of three ECT treatments within the course of one week at Novant Hospital in Charlotte, NC. These treatments restored my ability to speak, think, remember, and feel. I was transformed and returned to life. I am forever grateful to Dr. Christo, who is a brilliant doctor and a gentle and compassionate person. Thank you, Dr. Christo.
Just because he is not coddling you and baby talking you doesn’t mean he doesn’t care. He is taking in everything and seeing what will be the best for you in the weeks to come. I love the fact one of us is thinking logically since the world keeps spinning. I have had many psychiatrist, I did not want to see him or anyone for that matter , he was aware of this . Somehow he got me talking about steps to heal instead of past. I did not want to talk about that. That’s why I will stick with him. I see progress!
Dr Christo recommended and oversaw ECT treatments which made a dramatic improvement to my health.
I have been seeing Dr Christo since 2019. He helped me through a very difficult of major depressive disorder. ECT helped everything and I am grateful for his insight and care.
I have been with Dr. Christo for nearly 5 years and I stay for a reason. He’s a very compassionate doctor and he’s very clear on what my plan of care is. I recently started ECT with him and it has changed my life and I received the best care.
I have never been seen by a medical professional who seemed less concerned or showed less warmth toward me. He was totally cold and business like in asking many questions and perusing his computer but showed little interest in me as a human being. Part of the time I was there I was distraught and in tears and nothing changed about his demeanor. I would never recommend him

The only complaint that I have is that appointments are hard to get. Otherwise I really like Dr. Christo. I’ve been seeing him for almost two years and he’s always listened to my concerns and addressed them fully.

A psychiatrist is not a therapist. This is a medical doctor trained to diagnose and treat mental illness. Dr. Christo does this very well. Patients posting negative reviews because he isn't warm and fuzzy do not have appropriate expectations. That being said, he is a quiet, serious person who doesn't laugh at my jokes but addresses my concerns consciensciously. There are few good psychiatrists in Charlotte, but he is one of them.
