We bought a 10 year old Toyota 4 Runner from Metro Toyota. We live in Seattle and were buying it for our son who was college bound to Portland. My husband talked to the salesman many times regarding the condition of the vehicle and were told there were no major issues. The entire undercarriage needs to be replaced. After 1,700 miles the transmission wasn't working correctly so it went to the shop. The transmission was rusted through and leaking as are the brake lines plus parts of the suspension are destroyed.
