The McAllen Botanical Garden, also called the McAllen Nature Center, is a picturesque park in the heart of the city. At 59 acres (23 hectares), it is one of the largest of its kind and is rich in flora and fauna. This verdant space boast old trees and dense meadows that are home to numerous species of birds, butterflies and reptiles, including the endangered indigo snake and horned lizard. It offers plenty of opportunities for trails and hikes, and is also a good picnic spot for the family.

We love be this place! We had the pleasure of enjoying free sunset yoga, POI classes ( known as fire spinning) & nature walks during our Spring Break! There is no charge. They only ask you to sign in to check how many people are going in daily. Staff is extremely nice & knowledgeable about their upcoming events. The restrooms are clean. Great R & R option for all ages! I even saw some couples enjoying a romantic picnic dinner there. Great to know it is open daily!
