The McAllen Botanical Garden, also called the McAllen Nature Center, is a picturesque park in the heart of the city. At 59 acres (23 hectares), it is one of the largest of its kind and is rich in flora and fauna. This verdant space boast old trees and dense meadows that are home to numerous species of birds, butterflies and reptiles, including the endangered indigo snake and horned lizard. It offers plenty of opportunities for trails and hikes, and is also a good picnic spot for the family.

MNC is a true treasure in the RGV with a splendid combination of the natural world and the wonderful energy the staff&volunteers provide in such a helpful manner. This sanctuary is for both wildlife and humans alike! 💚
Awesome yoga...outside and wonderful instructors
It’s near my house, it’s free entrance, it’s kept clean. They offer free yoga classes that my daughter attends.
Thee ideal place for a true Nature Experience. Very peaceful and beautiful place.

My favourite short drive to get away! Great activities held through out the week ranging from yoga, colouring under the oaks, native walks, and night hikes. Bunnies, birds, butterflies, owls, scorpions, toads and more can be witnessed at the wonderful MNC.
The staff at McAllen Nature Center is always so wonderful. Our Girl Scout troop loves Night Hikes. Thank you Ernest and April!
