It has become a really great restaurant. The additions on the menu are new to the palate, tasty and yet remains affordable for the budget conscious. By far the standard by which other places should be judged, the family who owns it makes you feel welcome every single time, whether you are Hispanic or not. Service is fantastic and the food is terrific! Great margaritas.
Went for dinner order tortilla soup and got a tomato base with chips in it that was partially cold It may serve good drinks but the food is far from being Authentic Mex
Hello Happy Hour! – Many a place in San Francisco offers some sort of a happy hour, but most places do not offer it all night long. Maya offers their $2 tacos and $5 array of margaritas from 4:30pm until close. For those of us that have been to Blue Light for Taco Tuesday, we know that happy hour tacos are usually lack luster, but these tacos are amazing. They have a huge range of options from carne asada or chicken to more exotic options like red snapper or vegetarian options; all of which come topped with a delicious salsa... read more

Prix-fixe menus, inspired food, ... read more
Fresh & delicious – I am not a huge mexican food fan but I enjoy this restaurant & have dined there a few times. Tip: The $20 prix fixe lunch is a great deal which includes appetizer, entree, sorbet & non-alcoholic beverage. In fact, 2 of the prix fixe lunches may be shared among 3 diners if they are not large eaters. Tamal al chipotle - yummy. Quesadillas surtidas - ok. Ensalada de espinaca - ok, nothing special. Pepito (torta) - delicious, skirt steak was tender. Quesadilla abierta de camarones - ok, lots of cheese & only ... read more
Go for the top-shelf margarita, but the concept and execution of the food was way off – I went to Maya on a Friday night. There were 8 of us, so I had a good overview of the food selection. There was a lamb sirloin dish on the menu, which was unusual for a Mexican restaurant. So I took the plunge and ordered it. I don't recommend at all. The meat was gamey and tough. The balsamic-infused portabello mushroom garnish was a nice idea, but was heavy-handed. My friend had the carnitas (roast pork) dish. That was the only good dis... read more
