Used to be great, now avoid at all costs! – I used to LOVE this salon. The ambiance is lovely, and the people are (usually) friendly. Before they changed their management, I had the most wonderful colorist. I've been back to Maximum FX 3 times since she left, and the last 2 times were horrible. They turned my hair yellow and acted like everything was perfectly normal. Best Pedicure in Austin! – I have lived in Austin for almost three years and have been to all over town trying to find a place to get a good pedicure and I have finally found it. This place is reasonablly priced and the service is great. You get a private room and you don't have to worry that you are spending a fortune. I high recommend this place. It is great too if you want to go with a friend. You should definitely try this place out!
Excellent haircuts, questionable customer service – I recently treated my mother to a haircut/conditioning treatment at Max Fx for her birthday. I was very excited about the day because she never gets the opportunity to go anywhere nice to be pampered. However, upon arriving, my proud smile quickly faded and turned to embarrasment when, while standing at the counter waiting to be acknowledged, I was completely ignored for at least a full minute by not one, but three people. Juan is a must. – I've been going to Juan since this salon was on the Drag. After many years of service (I've even sent my mother, roommates, boyfriend and out-of-town guests), I am still happy with him. Unfortunately, I've seen the salon mature and with it some growing pains have been nagging the little salon that could. Best Aesthetician In Town – I have been to some of the most expensive in Austin and can compare --- Tess at MaximumFX is by far the best aesthetician I have ever been to and affordable! I receive compliments on my skin after my appointments with Tess. I will NEVER go anywhere else and if you haven't tried her facials than make an appt. You won't be disappointed.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! – This was the most comfortable place!!! The staff are very accomidating, and seemed toactually care about me. I was pampered and loved every minute of it. I went in as a model with angelia, Got a cut and colored my hair, I am very happy with it. Would recommend her to anyone. She was sweet, friendly and very professional, and exuded an aura of confidence in everything she did.
Erica is still a great stylist. – I've been going to Erica for a few years now. I don't know if anyone else is a good stylist there, but she has consistently been amazing. Her prices have gone up over the years and sometimes her schedule is packed, but she really is worth it. I tried out another salon recently because I was frustrated that I would have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment with Erica. Bad idea! She fixed the bad cut I got at the other salon. Great job Erica! You rock!!
Lackluster experience – My skin is the kind where even strangers come up to me and comment about how I am glowing after I get a facial. No one had any idea I had recieved a facial after my visit to Maximum FX. Skin felt worse after my facial. In fact it was dry, flaky, starving for moisture. Girl attending me could give a tinker's dime about what she was doing. Not my first facial, but indeed my last with Maximum FX.
