Overall pretty good. Service was great. Sat outside. I really like what they've done. It feels better to be there. Food was a little bland and noncommital... they didn't cut the brisket properly so it just crumbled. Definitely not a Texas BBQ place. Liked the quarter sheet pans they served dinner on. Could have used some onion and pickles on the plate. The sauce was average and again, noncommital. May or may not be back.
Maverick's has become my go-to for BBQ. I am no expert but I have eaten a lot of brisket over the years and the Texas style brisket has my vote for best in Durham. Be sure to try it with no sauce, some sauce, and then finally too much sauce to get the full effect. Now that they have been open for a while they have worked out most of the kinks. I would say they have awful service but can you actually call it service if you never get any? I should’ve asked about this place before going , because no one I’ve talked to since has had a positive experience.
Q shack is way better , bbq spaghetti was good brisket was ok but cold , pulled chicken extremely dry , sausage was just not fitting to eat along with the sides . Really need to step it up if they want to compete with other bbq reasteraunt!
We both had the sliced brisket with cpl sides and it was incredible!!!:). Highly recommend it and will certainly be back for more soon to try the pulled chicken, sounds yummy also!!
