Great little barbecue place. I love both the chopped pork and the pork ribs. The mac and cheese and the baked beans are great too. PBR is $1.50 every day. Doesn't have its own parking lot, but the lot directly across Gregson (not diagonally across) doesn't require a permit after 5 or on the weekend. During the week there's paid parking around, and free 2-hour parking a block away on Peabody.

I have now eaten at Mavericks three times. I believe this is the best barbecue joint in the area I would put it right up there with dinosaur barbecue! And that's saying something! I love it that one of the owners is in the kitchen and Emily McClanahan "The manager" is a delight always a big smile on her face! My kids favorite is the barbecue spaghetti. Family friendly and the best outdoor seating in Durham.
This place is awesome. Ask for Brad at the bar, the chicken, brisket, and the ribs are awesome
My friend and I had the worst service tonight. We barely got helped to get seated, our server came over after 10 minutes, he asked if we were ready to order as if he were in a hurry, once our food came not once did our server or anyone check on us, both my friend and I needed drink refills and we never got them, and once we asked for the bill it took 15 plus minutes to pay. The food was decent. I am a server and I get busy nights and exceptions to things but come on, they weren't even that busy. Very disappointed.
