Maudie's Cafe had a couple of generations of history and featured home style cooking by the time Joe first met Maudie Hamilton Wilson. Maudie served home cookin to the Austin politicos, families, neighborhoods, and O'Henry students. Started in 1954, Maudie's Cafe was 810 sq ft of yum - serving biscuits and gravy, chicken and dumplings, and cold beers. I had Lunch here, the Beef Enchiladas were delicious!! Their lunch portion was quite large, so I actually had some leftover for later (which is always a plus)! The Charro Beans were well seasoned and the rice was tasty as well. Our Waiter/Tony was very knowledgeable, attentive & prompt! I highly recommend Maudie's at the Triangle & will dine here again while visiting Austin!!
Not my favorite. When unfamiliar to the Mexican food served, I will usually go for the quesadillas, because how do you mess up a quesadilla? Add way to much salt, that’s how!
Business response:
Kimmie, thank you for the feedback on your visit to my restaurant. We don't add salt to our quesadillas, so this definitely gives me something to look into, and correct. I would love to meet with you on your next visit, and help you pick something you will enjoy. Thad Williams GM- Maudie's at the Triangle
The service was good the waiter was super nice, the hostes was less then enthusiastic, the food was good, although The guacamole was not good at all !!!it was mashed avacado it didn’t even have salt!!! Lol !!the only reason for the three rating otherwise the food was good ; )
We were in Austin for training (from the Houston area). Happened to see Maudies. Great and friendly service. I had the carne guisada and it was great! My friend had cheese enchiladas and she loved them so much she made me taste them. They were fantastic! We wish we had one in our area but will deff go again when we are in Austin.
