Sleek Design - Sexy Music – This place is not for the unsophisticated. What an amazing design. Thank you Mayor Newsom for this most refined slice of Manhattan on Fillmore Street.
I'm from LA and I thought it suct. – I'm from LA, you're all talking about how it's like an LA bar. Okay, well maybe it was like an LA bar in that it looked new and glitzy. As for the people though? Man it sucked. And the drinks... way way to expensive for the Gordon's brand Vodka. I too wish I had brought my Safeway Club card so that I could've gotten two drinks. The people at the Matrix Fillmore were vacuous, pretentious, and typical SF yuppy human waste. Enjoy the Gordon's people, you deserve it.
snooze snobs – this bar lacks energy, the people are pretentious, the drinks are expensive, and the music is monotonous.
High School Here We Come!!!!! – I forget what a little microcosm of LA superficiality the Marina strives to be, Have I forgotten how superficial people can be? As one of the women said, the guys there were flitting around like moths to the most attractive flame that walked in the door. I was astounded by how junior high the whole scene was. Unless people really knew each other, or had walked in with a mixed-gender group, the women-only crowds and the men-only crowds eyed each other, but didn't really talk. trixies abound – more guys than gals. typical. best bathrooms I've been in. the fireplace is cool, my date was hot and it was a decent place to stop for a drink. I've only been there early evening so whatever.
Peach drink! – The peach drink was amazing...one of my favorite drinks. Anyway, the Matrix is what it is. A very busy bar in the Marina with a not-so eclectic mix of people. Go with your friends, go with your date - whatever...just chill out and have some fun. CitySearch is sort of getting out of control, if you ask me. If you don't like this area, there are lots of other places to go to. Try Soma...different vibe all together.
NASTY, CROWDED, ICK – I was tricked into going to this bar when I first moved here by some wannabe, on his way up the yuppy corportate ladder jerk. I was disgusted that I had to wait in line for 20 minutes and when we did get in, we could barley move around. I was also disgusted to see that the cocktail tables spelled out "sex" and to my dismay I turned around to see the "private and intimate" booths. L.A. Marina Style – No bar in the Marina is ever going to escape the typical Marina-person stigma, however, I enjoyed this bar. I am not a Marina girl, but I am also not a reverse snob. If you enjoy a place with cool decor, lots of comfy couches and a cool mirrored back bar, this is your place. It reminded me of a boutique hotel bar, like something you'd find at the Standard in LA.
